Space related sets were popular issues with the Franklin Mint, since at the time most of these sets were issued, men had only recently set foot on the moon and space exploration was a "hot topic". This is a later set - 1980's I believe - and is very similar to the Space Flight 25th Anniversary set. This set focused on the space vehicles themselves, rather than astronauts or missions. These sets are much nicer looking than the popular America in Space, one of the earliest sets.
