Franklin Mint Presidents Ingots
Rarity Guide
Comments
These are the only presidential ingots the Franklin Mint made, although they also made several different types and sizes of presidential medals. The original sets included 36 ingots for presidents George Washington through Richard Nixon. The wood display case for this set is very attractive. Subscribers were later offered matching ingots for Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter, but these ingots did not fit in the original display cases, and were quite a bit more expensive, so not many were sold and consequently these last two ingots are very rare. They are usually seen in individual boxes. The 5000 grain (approx. 10 oz) size ingot set is one of the few largest sets issued by the Franklin Mint. Subscribers to the set received Proof quality ingots; proof-like ingots for individual presidents were also available on an open stock basis - mintage numbers for these individual ingots are not available.
